At FBCHodgenville we believe that baptism is an ordinance of the Lord
Jesus, where a believer, is obligated to be immersed in water in the
name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, as a sign
of fellowship with the death and resurrection of Jesus. It is
often called Believer's Baptism because it occurs after salvation to
one who is already a believer. It is thus a sign of remission of
sins, and of giving oneself up to God, to live and walk in newness of
life. Believer's Baptism is a prerequisite to church membership,
and we recognize and accept an individual who has received such
baptism through another congregation.
(FBCHodgenville By-Laws; Addendum C: Theological Definitions)
There are many passages
throughout Scripture that speak to the importance of baptism. In
the early church the immediate response of those who were saved was
baptism (Acts 2:41; 8:12-13; 16:33). Through baptism we are
buried with Christ in His death and raised so that we might walk in
newness of life (Romans 6:3-7). We at FBCHodgenville want to
celebrate the death of those who follow Christ in baptism. We
also want to hold them accountable for the decision that the believer
has made toward Christ.
To the right you can access videos of all members we have baptized
since 2009. Enjoy watching the videos and remember to encourage
all of these new Christians as they begin their walk with Christ.
