Dr. Tony Cunha joined the faculty of Campbellsville University in January2007. He is the dean of the School of Music and also teaches undergraduate and graduate courses.
He holds the Bachelor of Sacred Music degree from the North Brazil Baptist Theological Seminary – where he served on the faculty for 14 years – and a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education degree from the Federal University of Pernambuco, Brazil. He received the Master of Music and Doctor of Philosophy degrees from the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, in Fort Worth, TX.
Bro. Tony has served as minister of music in churches in Brazil and the United States. He believesthat whether serving in a local church or teaching in universities, one should live a life of a servant leader. Jesus, the greatest Master, taught us to love the Lord “with all your heart and with all your soul and with your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment.” However, Jesus did not stop there; He said that the second commandment is [to] “Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and Prophets hang on these two commandments” (Matthew 22:37-40). Love and service must go together. Thus, if I love God, then I will serve Him; and if I love my neighbor, I will minister to him/her. Working in churches and schools/universities challenges the person to live a life of service.
Tony and his wife, Raquel have two sons, Raphael and Gabriel, and two daughters, Emilly and Beatrice.
